A hotel collapses into a raging river in Taiwan

A powerful typhoon has ravaged the island of Taiwan killing more than 70 people and leaving thousands homeless.

Typhoon Morakot has brought strong winds and rains which have triggered mudslides.

The military has rescued hundreds of people from a village struck by a mudslide.

As much as two metres of rain fell on Taiwan before the storm moved to the Chinese mainland.
