September 2010 – Wet and warm

Hints of fall colours near Moncton, NB

September 2010 was unusual because of a heat wave at the start and heavy amounts of rain throughout the month.

The summer’s only “official” heat wave took place from the 1st to the 3rd with daytime highs at 32 C or higher.

Temperatures did drop to near normal values after the heat wave only to rebound again by month end.

High amounts of precipitation can be traced to the remnants of Hurricane Earl on the 4th but other major events on the 10th, 15th and 17th brought even higher amounts of rain.
