First Day of Winter

Winter will officially arrive in the Atlantic Time Zone at 1:30 AM Thursday.

The winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere is when the sun appears directly over the Tropic of Capricorn – the greatest distance away – leading to colder weather.

For the Southern Hemisphere of course, it will mean the first day of summer.
