Great snow melt begins

After having a consistent snow cover in Greater Moncton since 01 February, warmer temperatures in recent days have led to the beginning of what I call “The Great Snow Melt” – an annual March weather event.

Despite a rather chilly weekend, snow continued to melt thanks to strong sunshine on Saturday and above freezing temperatures on Sunday.

Environment Canada data shows 4 cm of snow on the ground at the Greater Moncton Airport as of Sunday at 9-am.

Temperatures are forecast to climb to 10 C or higher today across Southern New Brunswick.
