First fall frost!

The first frost of the fall season struck Greater Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick this morning when the temperature fell to a chilly 1.1 C.

While not a killing frost, it was enough to kill most tender plants.

Environment Canada notes we were defying the odds since the average date for the first fall frost in the region is  September 27.

The forecast calls for more chilly overnight weather this weekend when the temperature could fall below zero.
