It was a little later than usual, but this was the first snowfall of the season in Greater Moncton.

Thanks to a storm system that originated in the American Midwest, about 8 cm of snow fell before a changeover to freezing rain/ ice pellets and then rain (about 14 mm).

The same system also impacted eastern Ontario and southern Quebec with a snowy/icy mix in Ottawa and Montreal.

In advance of today’s storm, schools in Southeast New Brunswick were closed for the day.

  1. Of course we won’t mention the horrendous job of snow removal the city of Moncton employees foisted on the citizens. It was nothing more than the Keystone Cops revisited, as memories of snows past are short, and it seems learning curves are exceptionally long in these parts. They did seem to work at it though, managing to dredge up about 2 feet of snow to deposit in the end of my drive, and it was not a “double time Sunday”!
