The first week of 2013 has proven to be a frigid one in Southeast New Brunswick with overnight lows dipping to more than -18 C for more than three days in a row.

Though not unusual given that it is January – the coldest month of the year – but temperatures have been well below the normal daytime high of -3 C and normal overnight low of -13 C.

But a warm up is on the way after tomorrow thanks to a shift in the jet stream which will fend off Arctic air and bring in milder air from the south.
