A powerful storm which has pounded the Maritimes moved toward Newfoundland today packing a mixed bag of precipitation, strong winds and blizzard-like conditions.

Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island received the brunt of the storm where schools were closed and motorists were being told by police to stay off the roads.

In Greater Moncton, about 15 cm of snow has fallen since early yesterday with winds gusting up to 73 km/h today creating whiteout conditions.

In the wake of the storm, temperatures will drop and we could see lows again near -20°C by the end of the week.
