Environment Canada issued a tornado warning in western New Brunswick for about 35 minutes last night.

But meteorologists say it was straight line winds gusting to 85 km/h and not a tornado that caused significant damage in Woodstock.

Trees were uprooted and the town civic centre along with a number of downtown buildings sustained significant damage.

Remnants of the same thunderstorm also rumbled through Greater Moncton early this morning creating a spectacular light show.
