A common sight in Moncton during periods of freezing rain or even snow

When you stepped outside today in Greater Moncton, it almost felt like spring!

For the first time since 07 December, the thermometer climbed above freezing in Southeast New Brunswick – ending one of the longest periods (30 days) below freezing in recent memory.

Precipitation began as freezing rain early today but later changed to rain and about 20 mm was expected.

Meantime, a flash freeze warning has been issued as temperatures drop rapidly later tonight causing standing water, slush and snowmelt to freeze quickly creating extremely icy conditions.
