Summer-like heat in N.B.

Irishtown Nature Park reservoir, 20 May 2024 (Dearing)

Just last week many locations in New Brunswick hit 20⁰C for the first time in 2024 and now one place has reached 30⁰C already.

Doaktown, north of Fredericton, unofficially became the first spot in the province – and the Maritimes – to reach that milestone this spring with a reading of 29.9⁰C.

The humidity is also rising and some spots had a humidex of 30 today including Greater Moncton where the actual high was 26.5⁰C.

Given how dry it has been this May, the humidity is welcome.

Moncton has recorded only 32 mm of rain this month and no measurable precipitation has fallen in eleven days.

Forecasters say summer-like weather will continue until this weekend before a return to more seasonal conditions by next week.
